Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you have any questions that are not listed please contact info@field-farm.net we are more than happy to help.

Is there a minimum stay at Field Farm?

No, we offer day passes where you can simply arrive in the morning and depart at the end of the day or our holidays with your horse start from one day and can be as long or as short as you require. We also offer beach parking only, if you prefer to not use our facilities on a given day (see Day Visits). Cottages and caravans are minimum two nights, horse spaces and camping spaces and domes are charged by the night.

What are the holiday homes?

Our holiday homes are traditionally static caravans. They are fully equipped for self catering breaks with all cooking facilities included. All human bedding is provided you only need to bring towels, your clothes and your food.

Are there shops / restaurants nearby?

The nearest village is Chapel St Leonards, here you will find a Spar, a small Co-oP and a number or restaurants / pubs. It’s about three miles so too far to walk but ok if you bring a mountain bike or have a car. If you are staying in a horse lorry and have no other form of transport we do try and assist by letting you know when we are going to the shops and either take you or pick the odd item up. There is a really good Italian restaurant and pizza / kebab shop that do takeaway with a delivery service to the farm.

What equipment do I need to bring?

All mucking out kit is available here so no need to bring barrows or mucking out tools. If you are feeding hard food you need to bring buckets for that and of course your hard food. Hay and straw is provided and included in the horse price. Shavings and haylage can be provided but are chargeable extra or you can bring your own.

Is there electric hook ups for camping / staying in horse lorries?

Yes there are 6 electric hook up points. These are chargeable by the night and need a standard 240 volt 16 amp caravan style hook up lead. We do sometimes have leads around so it’s not a disaster if you forget or have the wrong lead. It is always best to pre book electric hook up to ensure it is available as it is purely on a first come first served basis.

What is included in the horse price per night?

Included in the overnight horse package is paddock, stable, hay, straw and unlimited use of the facilities (show jumping paddock, Cross Country course ranging from 40cm-1m, Indoor and Outdoor menage). The facilities are free to use at your leisure for the full duration of your stay

We offer paddock only option which includes paddock, hay, and unlimited use of facilities - these sometimes are not bookable via the website so best to email or call .

What time can we arrive and what time do we need to leave by on departure day?

Early arrivals can be booked and are an additional charge. You can arrive from 2pm with the horses (there may not be a stable or paddock free until after 2 pm but you are able to ride and use the facilities) accommodation will be available from 3pm. Paddocks MAY be available for early arrivals but this is NOT GUARANTEED. On departure day you will need to be out of your accommodation, stable and paddock by 11am prompt (you are free to use facilities for the full day and tie your horse to the box)

Do my horses need to be vaccinated?

Please ensure that all horses are vaccinated prior to your stay with us. If your horse has been in contact with any infectious diseases then please be a responsible horse owner and do not put others at risk.

Are there tack rooms on site?

We have 2 large tack rooms fully equipped with shelves, saddle/bridle racks. We have 24 hour 365 day CCTV that operates around whole of the farm, the owners/staff are on site 24 hours per day.

What is the Security Deposit?

Unfortunately sometimes our facilities do not get the respect we'd like, meaning we charge a Security Deposit fee as part of the booking which is refunded in full after departure if the T's & C's are met.

Security Deposit Terms and Conditions are;

  • accomodation to be left in a clean condition
  • rubbish bags to be placed in the huge bins located in the car park
  • no unwashed pots to be left
  • bedding to be placed in the linen bags provided
  • paddocks to be cleared of hay and droppings
  • stables to be mucked out and only clean straw left
  • tools/barrows to be returned to the rightful placed
  • whilst we realise you are on holiday, we are a family run business and work incredibly hard to provide well maintained facilities and clean accomodation. We expect people to respect our accomodation and our home surroundings. Deposits will NOT be returned if accomodation/paddocks/stables are left in an unsatisfactory condition.
  • If all above points are followed your security deposit will be returned to you within 24 hours after end of your stay via the card you paid with upon booking

Do horses get their own paddocks?

Every horse is allocated its own post and rail paddock. If you decide you would like to share with another horse (in your party) then the paddocks are big enough for 2 horses.

How far away is the beach and are there any restrictions?

The beach is 1 mile away via a grass track, 250 yards of costal road and you will arrive at Wolla Bank. There are no current restrictions as to what time you can ride on the beach. We ask that all riders are vigilant and respectful of holiday makers/children and dogs and stay as close to the sea as possible. Please read our Beach Riding Safe Practise Flyer for more information.
